New Predictor of Heart Trouble: Protein in the Urine

According to a new study published in the open access medical journel PLoS Medicine, patients who suffer from certain types of kidney disease are at increased risk of heart attack and heart disease.  The study demonstrated that patients with proteinurea (increased levels of protein in the urine) and albinurea (increased levels of the protein albumin in the urine), both of which indicate break down in the kidney's filtering ability, are at increased risk of developing heart attack and coronary artery disease.
