Some Reasons Injuries Occur During Gall Bladder Surgery

According to a published study, bile duct injury is a complication that can occur during gall bladder surgery.  Out of 1,670 patients who had a laparoscopic surgery, sixteen (or .95%) had bile duct injuries.  In each of these cases, a well-trained surgeon performed the surgery with experience in over fifty gall bladder surgeries.  Although there is a learning curve, the risk of bile duct injury is always present due to the features of laparoscopic surgery and regardless of the skill of the surgeon.
