Our client had a laparoscopic surgery to repair an inguinal hernia. After being discharged from the hospital, our client fainted at home and was rushed to the hospital where emergency surgery was performed.
We filed a case against the surgeon who had performed the hernia surgery. During the case, we discovered that the doctor had, in error, cut the external iliac vein, but did not recognize that he had done so. Consequently, our client developed deep venous thrombosis (blood clots) in the veins in our client's thigh, and he nearly died.
During the case, we also discovered that the doctor did not inform our client about the risks of the surgery or the surgeon's lack of experience in performing laparoscopic hernia surgery.
The doctor paid money to settle the case.
