Muriels Breath of Life was started by the Lagnese family in 2010 in honor of Muriel Lagnese, Paul's sister-in-law who died in 2009 of adult onset Cystic Fibrosis. Muriels' Breath of Life was founded in order to help families and patients of the Palumbo Cystic Fibrosis Center at Childrens Hospital of Pittsburgh with financial needs related to care and treatment that are not covered by insurance. In less than three years the Lagnese family has given about $100,000 to help these patient with things such as insurance co-pays, medications, and even gasoline to get to clinic appointments.
