Two male pedestrians were struck down on Liberty Avenue and Sixth Street by a taxicab, according to officials. A witness stated that a taxi driver struck down the pedestrians, killing one, after losing control of the vehicle at about 8:45p.m.
The killed pedestrian was identified as a 55-year-old resident of Carnegie. According to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office, Bey was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim survived, but neither his identity nor his condition following the accident has been revealed. It is unknown if the men were together, but they were within each other’s vicinity, close enough to be stuck down at the same time.
According to witnesses, the cab had lost control and crosses over the edge of the sidewalk, causing the accident. Officials closed down the roads where the accident occurred while they investigated the scene. The identity of the cab driver has not been revealed and the company that hosts the cab has declined to comment on the situation.
