Men: Stay Healthy at Any Age

The US Department of Health and Human Services’ Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has recommendations for things that men should do in order to stay healthy.  In addition to common sense advise for staying healthy such as regular exercise, not smoking, and eating a healthy diet the AHRQ recommends screening tests.  Included in the recommended screening tests are cholesterol levels starting at 35 years of age; screening for colon cancer starting at age 50; and if you have ever smoked and are between the ages of 65 and 75 screening for abdominal aortic aneurysm.  AHRQ also recommends that if you are over 45 you should talk with your doctor about aspirin to help prevent heart disease and that if you are over 50 you should get a flu shot every year.  Click here for a checklist you can use to help you keep track of your screening tests.

If you have been diagnosed with cancer and feel that your doctor should have been ordering screening tests or that you had screening tests that should have caught your cancer earlier you may have a claim for medical malpractice.  Our lawyers and doctors can review your medical records to find out if your cancer should have been found earlier.
