New Test for Breast Cancer that could replace Mammogram

With current mammograms, the breast is pressed together between metal plates.  Some women find this so uncomfortable that they refuse to get mammograms.  Mammograms with follow up breast ultrasounds are the primary method used to diagnose breast cancer, and the earlier breast cancer is diagnosed, the more likely it will be cured.  Dr. John Boone has now described a technique called dedicated computed breast tomography (CT).  With this technique, the scanner circles, but does not touch, the breast and there is no compression of the breast.
